The Catawba Valley Tea Party has announced its endorsement of Madison Cawthorn of Hendersonville for the N.C. District 11 Congressional seat left open when Rep. Mark Meadows announced he would not seek another term in Congress.

The endorsement of Cawthorn was announced Feb. 24 through a press release from the Catawba Valley Tea Party.

"We deeply regret Rep. Meadows' decision but know that he will continue to be a staunch advocate for conservatives across our nation within President Trump's administration. We believe that the future Congressional representative to replace Rep. Meadows is not only significant to the constituency of District 11 but also to conservatives throughout North Carolina," Thomas Kern, previous Catawba Valley Tea Party chair, said.

Annette Shuford, vice chairman, said: "We became very concerned with Rep. Meadows abrupt endorsement in a contested primary where we saw several extremely well-qualified candidates not considered by Rep. Meadows. One of these candidates we believe to embody the very essence of selflessness to become a public servant. Madison Cawthorn symbolizes the American spirit, which is alive and well in the millennial generation. His strong family values, faith in God, faith in our country, fighting spirit, courage, integrity, and resilience epitomize the very character traits we all yearn for in a leader to represent us."

"Madison Cawthorn would be one of the most tremendous assets to the Freedom Caucus in Washington, D.C., with a passion and unique perspective on reaching out to the millennial generation of the Republican Party," added Patricia Gabriel, Catawba Valley Tea Party memberat-large. "The future of the Republican Party needs to be secured for the next generation!"

"We, the members of the Catawba Valley Tea Party, officially announce our unanimous endorsement for Madison Cawthorn for Congress in North Carolina's District 11. We recognize the necessity of a millennial voice in Washington, D.C. and know that if our country is to continue to move forward as a Democratic-Republic to ensure our U.S. Constitutional rights and freedoms remain intact, we must be willing to embrace, and pass the torch to a new generation to fight for those rights and freedoms," stated David Goforth, Catawba Valley Tea Party chairman.

Madison Cawthorn is an 8th generation resident of North Carolina's 11th Congressional district. His ancestors have served Western North Carolina communities for more than 200 years, including in the Revolutionary War.

A small businessman, Cawthorn is owner and CEO of a real estate investment company and a motivational speaker. He challenges people across the nation to have faith, work hard, play by the rules, and pursue the American dream. A constitutional conservative, Cawthorn is committed to defending the values of faith, family, and freedom -- the values that have made America great.
