Congresswoman Beatty Announces Additional $10 Million+ in Coronavirus Relief Funding for Ohio's Third Congressional District

U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) announced today that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is giving the City of Columbus $8.1 million and Franklin County $1.8 million in Homeless Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding to improve COVID-19 response and prevention efforts for individuals experiencing homelessness as well as to provide more affordable housing options. In addition, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is providing Whitehall Family Health Center $150,475 to expand technological capabilities around diagnosing and triaging COVID-19 patients who are homebound. HUD and FCC funding were made available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, P.L. 116-136, a law Beatty helped pass in the U.S. House of Representatives.

"In Ohio's Third Congressional District and across this country, COVID-19 has had a dramatic impact on the lives and livelihood of everyone." Beatty said, "These desperately needed funds will help ensure some of our most vulnerable Americans have a safe and healthy place to sleep at night, expand access to COVID-19 telehealth services, and improve our understanding around preventing and addressing this public health crisis." She added, "As the Representative of Ohio's Third Congressional District, I will continue to relentlessly fight for additional resources so that more of my constituents can stay safe and healthy before, during, and after this pandemic."

To date, Ohio's Third Congressional District has received over $476 million in COVID-19-related federal funds.
