Statement from Congressman Joe Morelle

Statement

Date: June 1, 2020
Location: Rochester, NY

"Across the country, communities are crying out in anguish. They are demanding justice, pleading for reprieve from the centuries of inequality that have led to this moment.

Rather than uniting our nation and leading the fight for equity, our President is actively waging war on his fellow citizens. His actions are dangerous and they are un-American--and they threaten to do irreparable damage to society as we know it.

This is a pivotal moment in our nation's history. We must respond with empathy rather than anger; with peace rather than violence; with love rather than hatred. And we must act with urgency. The very future of our democracy depends on it."
