Lucas: Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Democrats Forgot that Science Committee Has Jurisdiction over Research & Development in the Surface Transportation Bill

Statement

Date: June 3, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Ranking Member Frank Lucas shared a statement today in response to the release of the Transportation and Infrastructure Democrats' surface transportation reauthorization bill.

"I'd like to remind my colleagues that an entire title of the surface transportation bill is dedicated to research and development," Lucas said. "This bill includes billions of dollars of spending within the Science Committee's jurisdiction, but we've had no consultation or input on what's included. Our surface transportation infrastructure is of critical importance to our country, and it's vital that we work together -- across Committees and on both sides of the aisle -- to put together a fair package of legislation. I look forward to working with the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson to ensure our priorities are being addressed.
