Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) released the following statement:

"As the world comes together to mourn the loss of George Floyd, today my prayers are with his family, loved ones, and all those who join in remembering his life.

While his family celebrates his life this afternoon, millions of Americans continue to call for an end to police violence and the systemic racism that afflicts our nation. We must make sure that their calls for justice are heard, and I stand with those marching and speaking out for change.

As we move forward, we must all commit to more than words -- we must offer action. I will continue to work with Black leaders on the national and local scale towards that change, for an America that is truly equal and free for all."
