Today,Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) issued the following statement:

"Last night, President Trump declared himself to be a man of law and order, but he acted like a dictator. His administration gassed and shot peaceful protestors with rubber bullets for a photo opportunity and threatened to "dominate" American citizens with military force.

This is not who we are.

America needs to hear words of healing and compassion. Instead, our President fanned flames of anguish and division.

Many, understandably, fear for their safety. But we cannot let fear stop us from making our voices heard to demand justice for George Floyd and too many other victims of systemic racial injustice.

Let us come together in compassion, understanding and resolve for real change. Through unity -- not division -- we will step forward, together."
