Peterson Statement on Death of George Floyd

Congressman Collin Peterson issued the following statement on the death of George Floyd:

"This has been a difficult few months for everyone across our state, and the events of this week surrounding the death of George Floyd have shed even more light on disparities faced by so many people of color not just in the Twin Cities but across Minnesota. I expect accountability for what happened and encourage peaceful dialogue so that we no longer see this cycle of injustice repeated.

"I'm grateful to the Minnesota National Guard for expanding their role from assisting in the pandemic to bringing calm and security to the streets. Their short-term mission in the Twin Cities should be followed by a concerted effort to address the underlying issues that fueled this tragedy. I pledge to work with my colleagues in the Minnesota delegation to do what I can to help this healing."
