Location: Miami, FL

MIAMI, FL -- Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26) announced $1,427,018 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to two community health centers in Florida's 26th congressional district to address the coronavirus pandemic. This additional funding comes after Mucarsel-Powell announced $265,249 in federal grants to community health centers on March 31, 2020, to support their efforts to combat the coronavirus.

"Continued, robust funding to community health centers is critical to keeping the people of South Florida safe and healthy during this pandemic," said Mucarsel-Powell. "I fought hard to ensure that health providers on the frontlines, like Community Health of South Florida and Rural Health Network, receive the federal support they need in this crisis. I will continue to work to make sure that these health providers have the essential resources to maintain drive-thru testing, provide PPE and supplies to healthcare workers, and continue their life-saving contributions to South Florida. I also call on Gov. DeSantis to provide accurate, transparent, and timely information about COVID-19 in Florida so our health centers can adapt their efforts to best assist our communities."

Community Health of South Florida, Inc (CHI) is receiving $1,290,154 of this funding. Rural Health Network of Monroe County, Inc is receiving $136,864. The federal funds are provided by legislation passed by Congress to expand capacity for coronavirus testing.
