May 28, 2020, U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX) released the following statement on the constitutionality of Democrat rule on proxy voting.

"Two hundred and forty four years ago, 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence helped to create the United States of America. Thirteen years later, the first Congress met with 20 Senators and 54 Representatives present and voting. They traveled from long distances all over the new country to vote on behalf of their constituents.

"Fast forward to this week, for the first time in Congressional history, 72 Democratic House Members representing 19 states chose to give their vote to someone else. 48 million people saw their vote cast by someone they didn't elect.

"I was not one of them. I am honored by the trust given to me by TX14 and I won't pass it off to anyone else.

"I have joined my colleagues in a lawsuit challenging the Constitutionality of this rule that allows proxy voting by others. Our Founding Fathers fought hard to create a system that all voices in America are heard. It's our job now to protect those voices. Count on me to make your voices heard."
