Dr. Bucshon Applauds Relief for Nursing Homes

Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is announced it has begun distributing $4.9 billion in additional relief funds to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to help them combat the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Sadly, nursing homes are among the most vulnerable places for COVID-19 to wreak havoc. It is imperative that we provide the proper resources and funding for these facilities to operate during this pandemic. Keeping our older populations safe must remain a top priority. I am pleased to see funding in the amount of $4.9 billion for nursing facilities to battle this terrible virus that is taking our loved ones."

· Dr. Bucshon recently signed a letter asking HHS to provide relief for nursing homes.

· Distribution Methodology

HHS will make relief fund distributions to SNFs based on both a fixed basis and variable basis. Each SNF will receive a fixed distribution of $50,000, plus a distribution of $2,500 per bed. All certified SNFs with six or more certified beds are eligible for this targeted distribution.
