On May 12, 2020, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement regarding the release of the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) Audit of 2019 Antisemitic Incidents:

"This should be a wake-up call to every single resident of the magnitude of the crisis we are facing here in New Jersey and across the country. We desperately need concerted action at all levels of government to ensure that there is truly no place for hate in New Jersey, in our local communities, or anywhere in our nation. As we've seen in one incident after another, the very safety and security of our communities hangs in the balance."

According to data released today by the ADL, anti-Semitic incidents rose 73% in New Jersey in 2019, reaching 345 total incidents -- the most ever recorded in the state and the second--highest number recorded in any state across the country last year.
