Collins Fights to Protect the Unborn in the Midst of COVID-19

Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) today joined Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Ca.) in introducing the Protecting Life in Crisis Act to prohibit federal COVID-19 response funds from going towards abortions or abortion coverage by extending existing Hyde Amendment protections to any COVID-19-related health care provisions. This legislation also prevents federal tax credits from being used to cover any post-employment health care (COBRA) premiums that include abortion coverage.

"While our country is working to recover from the pandemic, abortion activists are working tirelessly to exploit this crisis by attempting to roll back Hyde Amendment protections," said Collins. "We must stand up against these dangerous attacks on innocent life, which is why I'm proud to support the Protecting Life in Crisis Act. As Congress continues to provide relief in response to the coronavirus outbreak, this bill will ensure not a penny of taxpayer funds or federal tax credits can be used for abortions. I thank my colleague Rep. Conaway for introducing this important legislation as we continue fighting to protect the most vulnerable."
