Rep. Crow Applauds Swift Passage of Student Veteran Coronavirus Act of 2020

Statement

This week, the House of Representatives unanimously passed the bipartisan Student Veteran Coronavirus Response Act of 2020 (H.R. 6322). This key legislation-- introduced last week and co-sponsored by Rep. Jason Crow - further minimizes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on student veterans as schools and universities take proactive measures to mitigate the spread of the virus.

"As our universities adapt to remote learning brought on by the coronavirus, we cannot let any student veterans lose the benefits they earned. Now more than ever, we must continue to support veterans as they make the transition to civilian life as a student. This bill provides key fixes to ensure our student veterans don't lose their work study payment, housing, or other promised benefits."

The Student Veteran Coronavirus Response Act of 2020 builds on recent legislation, passed by the House and Senate and signed into law by the president, to ensure student veterans will not see a reduction in their monthly housing allowance as a result of their schools moving to online instruction due to COVID-19.

Crow, a freshman member of Congress, served three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, first as a member of 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq and with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan.
