Congressman Rouda, along with 61 bipartisan Members of Congress, sent a letter to the Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Health and Human Services (HHS) requesting personal protective equipment for childcare providers caring for the children of first responders, health care workers, and other essential workers.

"Communities across the nation are stepping up to provide childcare for the children of first responders and health care workers," said Rouda. "It is vital we make the necessary resources available to protect frontline workers and prevent the spread of COVID-19."

"The YMCA of Orange County is grateful for the support of Congressman Rouda's office. Those who are serving on the front lines providing essential services depend on us for child care and allowing us to receive the supplies we need quickly is essential," said Jeff McBride, President and CEO, YMCA of Orange County.

The letter urges DHS and HHS to leverage the substantial funding appropriated by Congress and work with States to meet the requests for urgently needed supplies to address the COVID-19 pandemic and protect our essential childcare providers and the families they serve.
