Today, House Committee on Small Business Ranking Member Steve Chabot (R-OH) issued the following statement after being selected by President Trump to join the President's Task Force on Reopening the Economy:

"As our nation continues to follow social distancing and other public health recommendations, we are looking forward to the day that we begin reopening the country. Just as Americans came together to combat the coronavirus, we must carefully chart a path forward for communities, businesses of all sizes, and above all, American workers and their families.

Small businesses have proved their resiliency during this historic time. Local manufacturers are retooling machines to make personal protective equipment. Small town grocers are providing necessary supplies like food for first responders. Startups are creating ground-breaking techniques to sanitize masks and surfaces. We want these businesses to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm honored to serve on the President's Task Force on Reopening the Economy. As Ranking Member of the Small Business Committee, I will work to ensure that as we cautiously lift restrictions on the economy, small businesses can continue to create jobs, spur innovation, and fuel economic growth."
