Rep. Long Appointed to the President's Task Force on Reopening the Economy

Statement

Rep. Billy Long (R-MO) released the following statement after being selected by President Trump to join the President's Task Force on Reopening the Economy:
"Though COVID-19 has created unprecedented challenges for our nation, I am confident that we can continue to protect our citizens without crushing our economy," said Rep. Long.

"While public health officials have issued guidelines to help keep Americans safe, President Trump has consulted business leaders, elected officials, and economists to determine our best path forward."

"I was pleasantly surprised to have received a call yesterday informing me that President Trump had selected me to serve on his historic bipartisan task force to help reopen the economy. With my business background, l understand all too well the devastating economic impact this virus is having on businesses and American workers. Before the pandemic, with President Trump's leadership, our nation saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average soar to record highs and we witnessed record low unemployment numbers. We are in this together, and I look forward to working with President Trump to get Americans back to work safely."
