Statement

Date: April 5, 2020
Location: Scranton, PA
Issues: Transportation

U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) today welcomed Greyhound Inc.'s decision to suspend its bus service to Scranton as the number of COVID-19 cases in the area continues to rise. The company had been running one round-trip route daily between Scranton and New York City in recent weeks.

"I welcome Greyhound's decision to suspend its bus service into our area for the time being, and I appreciate that they've taken into account our communities' concerns about regular travel between a major COVID-19 hotspot and northeastern Pennsylvania," said Rep. Cartwright. "It's important that we do everything in our power to slow the spread of this new virus, especially as we grapple with a rising number of cases here at home."

On April 1, Cartwright wrote to Greyhound Inc. urging them to cut back on their bus service between northeastern Pennsylvania and New York City.
