Marshall Encourages Use of State, Federal Coronavirus Resources

As the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus continues to increase in the United States, U.S. Congressman Roger Marshall, M.D. encourages all residents and community leaders to be aware of precautionary steps they can begin taking to prepare their homes, schools, workplaces and health care settings for the possibility of a Coronavirus outbreak.

"It is important that everyone understand what can and should be done to stop the spread of this virus," said Rep. Marshall. "President Trump and Vice President Pence continue working with our nation's top health care officials to put the full weight of the federal government behind the response of this outbreak. It is important that state, county and community leaders do their part to prepare their schools, transportation systems and health care facilities for the possibility of Coronavirus within their populations."

Last week the federal government further restricted travel to additional countries with known Coronavirus outbreaks. The CDC is in the process of mailing test kits to public health laboratories across the U.S. to further help expedite the testing of anyone showing possible symptoms. And in cooperation with other federal agencies, the CDC will continue to push for further research on the virus to be used in vaccine development and antiviral treatments. Rep. Marshall issued an op-ed this weekend underscoring the need for border security to allow the U.S. to prevent unidentifiable individuals from entering the country.
