Perlmutter Statement on the Senate Vote on the Articles of Impeachment

Statement

Location: Washington D.C.

U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) released the following statement after the Senate vote on the articles of impeachment.

"The facts and the evidence are clear: President Trump abused his power and obstructed congress, making it imminently clear he needed to be impeached. Unfortunately, the Senate failed to do its job as impartial jurors and I'm disappointed in Senate Republicans' decision to refuse to call on witnesses with firsthand knowledge of the President's wrongdoings.

"It is now in the court of public opinion. The American people will soon have a choice whether to continue down the path we're on or change the direction our country is headed. With so much at stake, I hope the latter is the ultimate verdict. Meanwhile I will continue my work with my colleagues in the House to pass legislation to help the hardworking folks in the middle."
