Perdue, Loeffler Closely Monitor Coronavirus Cases In Georgia

Statement

U.S. Senators David Perdue (R-GA) and Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) today issued the following joint statement after Governor Kemp announced two coronavirus cases in Georgia.

"We're closely monitoring the cases of coronavirus in Georgia and urge everyone to take extra precautions. Governor Kemp and the Trump Administration are working with us to ensure we keep Georgians healthy and safe," said Senators Perdue and Loeffler. "It is of utmost importance that Georgia has the resources necessary to respond accordingly. Fortunately, we have the best and brightest working at the CDC here in Atlanta to continue to help prepare the country."

Senators Perdue and Loeffler continue to update Georgians on the latest coronavirus response and provide guidance for staying healthy and safe:

Currently, the United States is:

Expediting the development of a vaccine
Educating state and local officials about containment and mitigation measures
Taking unprecedented steps to ensure travelers do not spread the virus
To help prevent the spread of viruses, the CDC recommends:

Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
Staying home when you are sick
Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue
Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
