Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $197,163 and a Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) grant of $1,136,509 to Bristol, Tennessee:

"I am pleased to see such a strong investment made in East Tennessee. These grants will give Bristol and communities in East Tennessee the opportunity to improve housing conditions and ensure resources are available for low- and moderate-income families. I applaud these investments and thank the Trump administration for helping our communities expand access to sufficient and affordable housing."

Note: Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) provide financial resources to state and local governments to address their community development needs. The Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) provides formula grants to states and communities to address housing needs for low- and moderate-income families. Funds from the HOME grant will be shared between Bristol and other members of the Northeast Tennessee/Virginia HOME Consortium -- including Kingsport, Johnson City, Bluff City, Sullivan and Washington Counties -- and each community will receive a percentage of funding proportionate to their population size and community needs.
