Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) today announced a $3,604,298 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to be awarded to Portage Learning Centers in Ravenna for its Head Start Programs.

"As a society, investing in our children is one of the most important investments we can make," said Congressman Ryan. "I'm proud to announce that Portage Learning Centers will receive another year of funding so they can continue to offer a promising start to so many of our children."

Head Start promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of low-income children through the delivery of comprehensive health, educational, nutritional, social, and other services.

This grant is part of the Head Start program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The funds are budgeted to support the program from February 01, 2020 through January 31, 2021.
