Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), member of the House Budget Committee and Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, released the following statement about the conclusion of the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump:

"With neither witnesses nor documents, this was a cover-up, a mockery of a trial. With one exception, blinding fear of Trump left Republican Senators shutting their eyes, closing their ears, losing their voice--and bowing to tyranny. The voice that matters most now belongs to November's voters who will decide if Trump may continue to act as the unaccountable, self-serving tyrant he aspires to be. Trump is not vindicated by this result. Trump has simply learned that his Republican enablers will allow him to get away with anything."
