Today Congressman Pappas, who serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, helped unveil House Democrats' new framework for a five-year, $760 billion investment that would create an estimated 10 million jobs addressing some of the country's most urgent infrastructure needs. This framework makes substantial federal investments in our nation's roads, railways, and airports to move our country and our economy forward.

Furthermore, this framework includes priorities that Congressman Pappas has championed, including substantial investments in our nation's water infrastructure and the establishment of new EPA programs to detect, prevent, and treat PFAS.

"Since I was elected to office, I have been a strong advocate for an infrastructure package that reflects the needs of our communities," said Congressman Pappas. "The framework announced today will allow us to advance legislation in the coming weeks to address our urgent infrastructure needs, create good paying jobs, spur economic growth, and protect our environment. I look forward to working with my colleagues to get this critical priority through the House."

Among other things, the framework outlines major investments, including those in surface transportation, rail and transit systems, airports, ports and harbors, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure, and broadband.

It's infrastructure investment that is smarter, safer and made to last -- with a framework that:

Brings existing infrastructure into a state of good repair and enables the completion of critical projects through long-term, sustainable funding.
Sets a path to reduce the pollution from the transportation sector, creating jobs, protecting our natural resources, promoting environmental justice and increasing resilience to climate change.
Establishes a new EPA program to detect, prevent, and treat discharge of industrial chemicals, including PFAS.
Expands broadband internet access, adoption for unserved and underserved rural communities.
Supports U.S. industries, including steel and manufacturing, through strong Buy America protections.

The five-year, $760 billion framework will put Americans to work and includes priorities that Congressman Pappas has championed, including substantial investments in our nation's water infrastructure and the establishment of new EPA programs to detect, prevent, and treat PFAS.
