Earlier today, the Supreme Court issued a 5-4 ruling allowing the Trump administration to begin enforcing new limits that could deny immigrants residency or admission to the United States because they have used or may use public assistance programs. Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) issued the following statement in response:

"From the very beginning of his administration, President Trump has promoted anti-immigrant and racist policies that have targeted immigrants and refugees," said Congresswoman Garcia. "Instead of striving to make America a more inclusive country that embraces our diversity, the President has continuously attempted to deny immigrants the opportunity to achieve the American dream. I am deeply disappointed in the Supreme Court's decision, which has greenlighted the President's new anti-immigrant public charge rule," concluded Congresswoman Garcia.
