Reps. Budd and Rouda Introduce Resolution to Protect Vietnamese American Heritage

Statement

Today, Reps. Ted Budd (R-NC) and Harley Rouda (D-CA) introduced H. Res. 799, with Reps. Alan Lowenthal (D-CA) and Zoe Lofgren (D-CA). The bipartisan resolution supports the preservation of Vietnamese American heritage and recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of Vietnamese immigrants on the American landscape.

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"The story of Vietnamese immigrants is the story of America. They fled a violent, repressive regime and started a new life in our great country. I'm honored that thousands of Vietnamese Americans call my North Carolina district home. We celebrate their story and encourage generations both young and old to keep working to achieve the American dream."

Rep. Rouda said in a statement:

"Vietnamese Americans understand the values of the American Dream. These friends and neighbors have enriched our communities, strengthened America's economy, and bettered our understanding of the world. In Orange County and across the nation, we must protect and preserve the history and countless contributions of Vietnamese Americans. Thank you to my colleagues for supporting this resolution and acknowledging the significant impact of over 1.5 million Vietnamese Americans living in the United States, and the generations who came before them."
