Lujan Statement on House Vote to Protect Medicaid From Republican Sabotage

Statement

Date: Feb. 7, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. House Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján issued the following statement on the House vote Thursday to protect Medicaid:

"President Trump and Congressional Republicans will stop at nothing to sabotage health care for Americans. After suing to end coverage for pre-existing conditions, allowing for barebones junk insurance plans, and slashing funding for critical health programs, the president is now trying to make it harder for the most vulnerable Americans to receive care through Medicaid. The Republican attempts to destroy our health care system have reached a dangerous and cruel new low. I was proud to vote today to protect this critical program and will continue to fight for the rights of all individuals to have quality health care."
