Ferguson on State of The Union

Statement

Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) released the following statement in response to President Trump's State of the Union Address;

"President Trump continues to put America first and advance the interests of our nation. The strong economy under this administration is lifting Americans everywhere. This administration successfully negotiated the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement which created 176,000 new jobs, added $68 billion in new economic growth and was a big win for American families, farmers, workers, and businesses. He also delivered on a historic "Phase One" trade agreement with China.

I was happy to hear the President speak on the jobs created in the opportunity zones established in the Republican tax cut bill. In Georgia, 260 opportunity zones have attracted investments -- including in Muscogee County -- and brought new economic opportunities to our local community.

This administration has made tremendous progress in fixing our broken immigration system and securing our border. I was pleased to hear the President's plans to continue building a safe and legal immigration system by facing head-on the public safety threat posed by sanctuary cities.

The President's remarks on issues facing working families, from ensuring that every child can get a great education, to supporting America's parents as they manage the demands of their careers while raising children were also commendable.

While the Democrats continue to embrace socialist healthcare policies, the President thoughtfully laid out his vision of lowering the cost of prescription drugs while maintaining the highest standard of care and access to the most innovative cures.

President Trump has kept his promises and America is strong once again. As he made clear in his remarks, there are many opportunities for Congress to help Americans and keep our nation moving forward. I remain committed to working with President Trump, his administration and my colleagues in Congress to continue to grow our 21st century economy and create an environment that ensures opportunity for all."
