Rep. Calvert: "USMCA Will Create Jobs And Opportunities Throughout The Inland Empire"

Statement

Date: Dec. 19, 2019
Issues: Trade

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) issued the following statement following the bipartisan passage (385 to 41) of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) in the House of Representatives:

"Just a day after a divisive and partisan impeachment vote, I am glad House Democrats have joined Republicans in finally supporting the USMCA, the President's top domestic policy priority. Their delay to take action has come at the expense of American workers and the U.S. economy, but better late than never.

"I applaud President Trump for modernizing and improving upon our most economically important trade deal. Southern California is a gateway to the world, which makes free and fair trade agreements vital for our region's economic future. The USMCA will create jobs and opportunities throughout the Inland Empire. It will also help our position in further negotiations with China and I look forward to supporting the President in his efforts to secure a better trade deal in the New Year."
