Reschenthaler's Statement Opposing House Democrats' Resolution to Undermine President Trump, Weaken America

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) released the following statement on his opposition to H.Con.Res. 83, House Democrats' Iran War Powers resolution, which is nothing more than another political attack on President Donald Trump.

"As a Navy JAG, I prosecuted terrorists in Iraq and was stationed across the street from our embassy in Baghdad. I witnessed Iranian attacks on our armed forces firsthand during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I applaud President Trump, our warfighters, and the intelligence community for reaching an incredible outcome against Iran. Under Article II of the U.S. Constitution, President Trump had the legal authority, moral obligation, and duty as commander-in-chief to strike General Soleimani.

"In recent months, Iran shot down a U.S. drone, killed an American, and organized an attack on our embassy. General Soleimani was the mastermind behind these attacks. His death was a win for America, freedom, and peace. In supporting this resolution, Democrats are standing with their radical base instead of standing against the Iranian regime."
