Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement after Congressman John Lewis was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer:

"Congressman John Lewis is a monumental figure in Congress and a civil rights hero. He is proof of what it means to be a real leader. I know that John will prevail in this battle with cancer, just like he has in so many fights."
