Rep. Loudermilk: American People Force Speaker and Democrats to Act on USMCA

Statement

Date: Dec. 10, 2019
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Trade

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga) issued the following statement after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced the House has reached a deal on the USMCA trade deal:

"It's about time! Speaker Pelosi's "dam of obstruction' has formed a small crack in which President Trump's USMCA trade agreement has leaked through. Fearful that passing the popular USMCA would be a huge win for President Trump and Republicans, Pelosi and Democrats refused to even consider passing this key trade deal during their entire first year in control of the House.

"What they refused to acknowledge is, the real winners of the USMCA would be the American farmers, manufacturers, workers, and consumers. Overwhelming public support for USMCA and a growing frustration of obstruction is what has brought USMCA to a vote, but the Democrats will certainly try to take full credit. Once in place, USMCA will bring another $68 billion to our historically strong economy, creating more jobs, more pay increases, and more stability for American workers, as well as our trade partners in Canada and Mexico."
