DeLauro Announces Nearly $3 Million for Transportation, Economic Projects

- Funding Includes $1.2 Million for Q Bridge -

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) today announced nearly $3 million in funding for transportation and economic development projects in her district. The funding was included in the Fiscal Year 2006 Transportation-Treasury Appropriations bill, which passed the House today and is expected to pass the U.S. Senate.

"I am pleased that this legislation adequately invests in our nation's transportation needs and ensures that Amtrak will continue to operate this year," said DeLauro. "While I am disappointed that the bill does not do more to address the country's affordable housing crisis, the bill increases funding for Section 8 and spares several other important housing programs like the Homeless Assistance Grants, Housing for People With AIDS and elderly housing programs from cuts.

"The funding included in this bill will help Connecticut commuters with vital transportation projects like the replacement of the Q Bridge, which we are all eager to complete. This bill also includes funding for economic development projects that will bring local communities together."
