Thompson Votes Yes on USMCA Trade Agreement

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5430, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, with strong bipartisan support by a vote of 385-41. The agreement is the first major overhaul of U.S. trade policy with Mexico and Canada since the passage of NAFTA in 1993. After the vote, Congressman Glenn "GT' Thompson issued the following statement:

"Today's vote is a major win for farmers, ranchers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and 12 million American workers who support the $1.4 trillion of trade within North America annually," said Rep. Thompson. "I'm pleased the playing field will be leveled for dairy farmers, thanks to the elimination of Canada's Class 6 and 7 milk pricing programs that have unfairly limited exports for years. This agreement will help bring U.S. trade policy into the 21st century. With a $2 billion projection of agricultural exports annually, USMCA is a strong catalyst for economic growth in rural America."
