Reschenthaler's Statement on Opposing Democrats' Tax Break for the Wealthy

Statement

Date: Dec. 19, 2019
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

Today, Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) released the following statement on his vote in opposition of H.R. 5377, legislation to restore tax cuts for blue state millionaires and billionaires. This bill repeals provisions of the historic 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act signed into law by President Donald Trump.

"House Democrats' tax bill would require hardworking Pennsylvanians to subsidize a tax break for the coastal elite. Instead of working with Republicans to make tax cuts permanent for middle-class families and small businesses, Democrats are restoring a tax provision under which the vast majority of the benefits go to those making more than $200,000 a year, including millionaires and billionaires.

"Thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the work of the Trump Administration, the United States is experiencing an economic resurgence that has resulted in millions of new jobs, historically low unemployment, rising wages, and record-level consumer and business confidence. I will continue to support pro-growth policies that help families and workers in southwestern Pennsylvania achieve the American dream."
