Congressman Fred Keller announces USDA extension of Dairy Margin Coverage Program enrollment deadline

Press Release

Date: Dec. 13, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Fred Keller (PA-12) on Friday announced the United States Department of Agriculture has extended the 2020 enrollment deadline for the Dairy Margin Coverage Program until December 20, 2019.

The enrollment deadline is being extended due to prolonged and extensive impacts of weather events this year.

"I am glad to see USDA extend the enrollment deadline for the Dairy Margin Coverage Program to help our dairy producers," Congressman Keller said. "I encourage all those interested in enrolling in the Dairy Margin Coverage Program to contact their local USDA service center for more information on how to enroll."

The Dairy Margin Coverage Program was authorized in the 2018 Farm Bill offers reasonably priced protection to dairy producers when the difference between the all-milk price and the average feed cost falls below a certain dollar amount selected by the producer.

It is also another tool to help dairy producers while the Trump administration forges stronger and fairer trade deals.
