Rep. Meadows Introduces Bill to Help Veterans Seek Careers in Education

Statement

This week, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) introduced a bill to aid military veterans seeking employment in schools.

The Troops Educating and Managing Schools (TEAMS) Act takes recommendations provided by the Department of Education's Federal Commission on School Safety to expand the scope of the Troops-to-Teacher program, which helps veterans seeking careers as teachers. Under the changes in this bill, veterans would be eligible to serve in a wider range of vocations at schools across the country, including as principals, counselors, deans, administrators, nurses, and school resource officers.

The Troops Educating and Managing Schools Act has been officially supported by AMVETS, the "nation's most inclusive Congressionally-chartered veterans service organization," which represents over 20 million veterans.
