Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL), member of the House Agriculture Committee released the following statement after the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) finalized a rule that supports the Administration's commitment to promoting employment by applying common-sense standards to policies affecting non-disabled adults without dependents (ABAWDs) receiving the Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP) benefits.

"SNAP is an effective program that offers a hand up, not a handout, for individuals and families that find themselves in tough circumstances. Often, SNAP recipients are unable to work or are primary caregivers. For those individuals who can work, this program is intended to bridge the gap as they actively look to rejoin the workforce and contribute to our economy. I applaud the administration and Secretary Perdue's efforts to help people transition from poverty to prosperity."
