Sasse Praises SNAP Work Rules

Statement

U.S. Senator Ben Sasse issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that it will finalize regulatory reforms to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that promotes work requirements for able-bodied adults. This comes after Senator Sasse led the effort to have the Department update these rules.

"We ought to be celebrating the dignity of work, and that's exactly what this rule does. Government doesn't give us happiness -- community, faith, and meaningful work do. Washington should do its part to help promote the dignity of work and help our fellow citizens in need. The USDA is doing great stuff. This is one big step towards helping communities across the country."

Background:

Last year, Senator Sasse led a group of fourteen senators urging the Department of Agriculture to make these changes. Today, the USDA released the finalization of these rules.
