Hartzler Statement on Impeachment Inquiry

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) issued the following statement after the first day of the public impeachment inquiry against President Trump:

"We are in the 9th week of this tainted, Soviet-style show trial and we have clearly seen that Speaker Pelosi and Representative Adam Schiff are more interested in impeaching President Trump at all costs than working on the pressing issues that face our country today. They have unfortunately prioritized overturning the election of President Trump over all other issues facing our country.

"We learned nothing new of substance yesterday after House Democrats had their handpicked witnesses testify at the House Intelligence Committee. Both gave accounts of mere cases of hearsay, sharing perspectives about things they had heard from second- and third-hand sources. Ambassador Taylor himself admitted that he has never spoken to or even met President Trump during his time at the State Department.

"Hardworking Americans send their representatives to Washington to work on expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare, to keep our economy growing, to pass the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, and to secure our southern border. House Republicans have already worked with our colleagues across the aisle to write legislation on many of these fronts and remain committed to advancing solutions.

"In less than a year, the American people will once again get to decide President Trump's political future. Disagreements over President Trump's foreign policy ought to be decided at the ballot box, not in a sham impeachment proceeding. Let's get back to doing the work of the American people," Hartzler concluded.
