Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) released the following statement regarding the decision by the President of the United States to withdraw U.S. military troops and personnel in Syria:

"President Trump's decision to withdraw troops from northern Syria is a win for our adversaries and a major loss for our partners and the Syrian people. It's one thing to reassess the need for American troops abroad, it's another to listen to a foreign leader over your own experts, leave our partners in the lurch, and create an opening for the rise of Iran, ISIS, and Russia. This announcement represents the continued erosion of American global leadership and is yet another example of the president prioritizing his own interests over our national security and the security of our allies and partners."
