Pallone Statement on Ranking Member Walden's Retirement

Statement

Date: Oct. 28, 2019
Location: Washington D.C.

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today after Ranking Member Greg Walden (R-OR) announced that he will retire from the House at the end of the 116th Congress:

"The Energy and Commerce Committee has a proud tradition of bipartisanship, and during both his time as Chairman and Ranking Member, Greg has lived up to that tradition.

"When Greg became Chairman of the full Committee, he focused on the growing national opioid epidemic, and we worked closely together to pass the Support for Patients and Communities Act and to investigate opioid distributors and pill dumping in West Virginia.

"Our bipartisan work has continued this Congress, as we have partnered to develop legislation to end surprise medical billing and to stop abusive robocalls.

"Greg is a serious legislator who always takes the time to listen to members and to his constituents back home in Oregon. I look forward to completing our bipartisan work over the next year and wish Greg nothing but the best in the future. Greg's voice, ideas and leadership will be missed in the House."
