Washington, D.C. - The House today passed Congressman Steve Chabot's (R-OH) Sunshine in the Courtroom Act as a part of the Secure Access to Justice and Court Protection Act. Chabot's measure, which will allow television cameras to broadcast federal court cases, was added as an amendment to the bill during a Judiciary Committee markup last month. The legislation was passed by the House 375 - 45.

"Allowing television cameras in federal courts will open up the judiciary and allow the American people to see how their justice system operates." Chabot stated. "This is a good public policy if you are a believer in open and accountable government."
