Lipinski Applauds Saint Xavier University's $3M Department of Education Award

Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-03) has congratulated Saint Xavier University on the school's $3 million Department of Education award to expand opportunities and educational outcomes to Hispanic students.

Saint Xavier University will use the Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Title V Program grant to support its Comprehensive, Aligned Supports for Attainment (CASA) initiative. The school's institution-wide approach to enhance student outcomes includes: additional support for incoming first-year students and sophomore engagement; hiring additional tutors and writing support for Saint Xavier's Learning Center; creating a personal and career development program; and promoting personal financial literacy.

"I am pleased to see the Department of Education's recognition of Saint Xavier University's commitment to supporting its Hispanic student population," Rep. Lipinski said. "These funds will expand supportive programs to improve outcomes for students, preparing them not just for college graduation, but also for their future careers and personal financial management. This is critical in today's hyper-competitive job market."

Saint Xavier University President Laurie M. Joyner, Ph.D., said the grant reinforces the school's commitment to ensuring its diverse student body has the necessary resources for success.
