Murkowski Votes to Confirm Eugene Scalia as Labor Secretary

"After thoroughly vetting Eugene Scalia for the post of Secretary, I found him to be highly qualified. I had the opportunity to meet with him in person and speak on the phone about issues important to Alaskans. This gave me a chance to not only learn more about Mr. Scalia and his experience, but educate him on Alaska's unique issues and opportunities," said Senator Murkowski. "I also researched his background, read articles he has written, and considered his previous work at the Department of Labor as solicitor where he advocated for American workers. He's highly respected among former colleagues on both sides of the aisle for his in-depth knowledge, willingness to listen to divergent views, and his fair and honest temperament. I look forward to working with him and his team on carrying out the Department's mission to serve American workers and retirees."
