Inhofe Joins Bill to Ensure Dignified Burial for Aborted Fetal Remains

Press Release

Today, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), joined Sen. Braun (R-Ind.), Sen. Young (R-Ind.), Sen. Daines (R-Mont.), Sen. Cornyn (R-Texas), Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) to introduce a bill to enforce guidelines for the dignified handling of aborted fetal remains and implement penalties for failing to respect the sanctity of human life: the Dignity for Aborted Children Act.

The disturbing discovery of over 2,000 aborted fetal remains in the home of an Indiana abortion doctor this month brought to light the horror that fetal remains are often treated with disrespect.

"A human life--especially a child's--is sacred," Inhofe said. "Recently, we've seen disturbing cases that show us yet again that the abortion-on-demand industry has no respect for the dignity of human life. These babies deserve a proper burial. To think that someone would compound the evil of abortion through degrading lives in this manner is horrifying."

About the Dignity for Aborted Children Act:

Requires abortion providers to dispose of the remains of unborn children just as any other human being. Failure to do so is punishable by a fine and up to 5 years in prison.

Requires consent form so the mother can choose to retain possession of her unborn child or allow the provider to cremate or inter the unborn child. Failure of the provider to execute these forms is punishable by civil penalty.
