McCaul Statement on Attack on Saudi Arabia's Oil Infrastructure

Statement

Date: Sept. 17, 2019
Location: Washington D.C.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX) released the following statement regarding the recent attack on Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure.

"The recent attack on Saudi Aramco, the world's second largest producer of oil, was a damaging assault on our strategic partner, Saudi Arabia, and deliberate attempt to disrupt the global economy. We all know that Iran is the most likely culprit, but the United States and other responsible nations are currently reviewing the intelligence to ensure that our assessments are high confidence. A crippling attack of this nature on non-military assets demands a response with impactful consequences. Failure to respond will only embolden future acts like this, or worse.

"Additionally, President Trump's calls to expedite domestic pipelines in Texas and other states should be approved quickly. Investing more in our own energy resources will continue to ensure our economic interests are protected from any future similar attacks."
