House and Senate Armed Services Committees enter conference

Statement

Date: Sept. 19, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Today, the House and Senate Armed Services Committees "passed the gavel" and entered into an official conference on the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 2020 (NDAA). Rep. Thornberry released the following statement:

"I believe that the first job of the federal government is to protect the country, and that includes fully funding our military on time. This year we have faced challenges, but I am hopeful that we can come together to provide our servicemembers with the best equipment, support, and resources they need to do the job we have asked them to do.

"By bringing both chambers and both parties together, I hope the outcome will be a better bill for our troops."
