Issue Position

We need to allow parents and educators at the local level to have control over our children's education. Common Core which the Mississippi Department of Education calls College and Career Readiness Standards has no place in our school systems. This ineffective education regulation handicaps our children's ability to learn. We desperately need to eliminate all the useless standardized tests that forces teachers to teach to these tests rather than preparing students for life. We need an education system that provides local control and encourages a more effective environment for learning. We need to make sure all our children are educated to a level that makes them productive citizens and allows them to attend college, if they choose, but more importantly prepares them for life, not just college.
