Today, Rep. Phil Roe (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after the Trump administration announced plans to close an immigration loophole known as the Flores Settlement, which will ensure immigrant families are kept together and our laws are not abused:

"Earlier this year, President Trump announced his three-part solution to address border security. One important piece was to revise the "Flores Settlement," which requires detained children to be released into the country after 20 days. This arbitrary, court-created policy is a significant source of abuse by those seeking to come to our country. Because of this policy, children have essentially become a golden ticket for entry into the United States. I applaud President Trump's work to close this loophole. We can and should encourage legal immigration, but this can only be done if we enforce our immigration laws and prevent loopholes that encourage illegal immigration."
